Introducing Brave + Beautiful

Most of the time, candles light up your home. At Anchored Northwest, we believe in using them to light up our community. This summer, we partnered with a local nonprofit, Project Beauty Share®, to bring you a candle that will truly change lives and provide hope and dignity to others.

Project Beauty Share® is one of the most beloved Spokane nonprofits. This nonprofit collects personal hygiene, cosmetics, and beauty products and distributes them to other non-profit organizations that serve women and families overcoming abuse, addiction, homelessness, and poverty in the northwest. This effort helps restore hope and dignity and offers empowerment.

We are excited to partner with Project Beauty Share® and announce the Brave + Beautiful candle. This sophisticated candle offers a scent that’s both down-to-earth and feminine. For every purchase of a Brave + Beautiful candle, Anchored Northwest will donate $7 to Project Beauty Share®. Join us in making a lasting impact in Spokane, Washington, and the Inland Northwest.

What is the Brave + Beautiful Candle?

Inspired by the strength of women and families overcoming adversity, the Brave + Beautiful candle is sweet + grounded. Crafted with fruity notes of the northwest, including strawberry, raspberry, and black currant, the scent fills a room with abundance and compassion. The base notes of tonka, vanilla, and light musk keep this candle down-to-earth. Together, this candle feels like a hug after a difficult day.

With every Brave + Beautiful Candle purchased, we will donate $7 to Project Beauty Share®, one of the best-known Spokane charities. $7 can buy a box of pads or tampons, toothpaste and a toothbrush, deodorant and face wash, and more. Together, we can help women and families in our community improve their quality of life in a way many of us take for granted.

What is Project Beauty Share®?

Did you know that women are 38% more likely to experience homelessness? Additionally, women’s hygiene products cost 15% more on average than men’s. This makes it even more difficult for women facing poverty, homelessness, abuse, and addiction to get the products they need.

Julie Farley is the founder and former owner of the Make-Up Studio in Spokane. In her 30 years of being a professional makeup artist, she has seen how empowering access to hygiene products and makeup can be for all women.

“You hear stories of people using dish soap to wash their hair and that’s flat-out wrong,” explains Julie Farley. “Or not being able to purchase feminine hygiene products, toothpaste, toothbrushes, or deodorant. I mean, those are things that are expensive and you can’t use food stamps for those. You can buy junk food but you cannot purchase hygiene items. So all of those products that we take for granted every day, many women go without.”

Makeup and hygiene may not solve homelessness or abuse. But they can empower the women in those situations and offer them dignity during a difficult time. Project Beauty Share® collects and cleans beauty and hygiene products. Then they distribute them to dozens of nonprofits and charities that work directly with Spokane women and families who are overcoming poverty, homelessness, abuse, and addiction.

How Can You Get Involved?

Besides purchasing the Brave + Beautiful Candle, you can support Project Beauty Share® by donating and volunteering.

Volunteering:

Project Beauty Share® needs volunteers to help clean and sort products for distribution. You can volunteer as an individual or get together with friends and family. Project Beauty Share® hosts multiple events throughout the year to raise funds. If you are able to volunteer at their Spokane charity events, such as Evening En Blanc, reach out to them today.

If you are able to make financial donations, your generosity would be greatly appreciated. Each donation supports the hundreds of Spokane women who need access to personal hygiene products and cosmetics. Donors can make a one-time donation online. They may also become Circle of Hope donors with a monthly donation.
